Record low number of US adults say they are proud to be an American.

The number of people who say they are proud to be an American has fallen to a record low, according to a Gallup survey.

In the survey, 58% of respondents say they are “extremely” (41%) or “very” (17%) proud to be an American, down nine points from last year and five points below the previous lowest record set in 2020, during the last year of Trump’s first administration.

Pride among Democrats and independents also hit new lows.

36% of Democrats say they are “extremely” or “very” proud to be an American down from 62% a year ago. The previous lowest was 42% in 2020.

Meanwhile, 53% of independents say they are proud to be an American, down seven points from the lowest record set last year. 92% of Republicans are proud to be American up from 84% last year.
