Democratic congressman from Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond is reportedly leaving Capitol Hill for a senior role in the Biden White House, Bloomberg News reports.
The congressman from Louisiana’s 2nd congressional district, was just elected to a sixth term in Congress. He will be one of highest-ranking Black officials in the White House overseeing public engagement.

Richmond is expected to make the announcement at a news conference on Tuesday.
Louisiana’s second congressional district is considered to be a ‘safe Democratic’ seat. So, its unlikely that Republicans would be able to flip the seat in a special election.
