Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) slammed House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) for refusing to say President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election.
On Sunday, Fox News host Chris Wallace pressed Scalise on whether he believed that Joe Biden is the duly elected president. Scalise refused to answer the question choosing instead to point to constitutional rules and states’ laws on elections which he says some states did not follow in the election.
“Millions of Americans have been sold a fraud that the election was stolen. Republicans have a duty to tell the American people that this is not true. Perpetuating the Big Lie is an attack on the core of our constitutional republic,” Cheney tweeted.
Cheney has been a vocal critic of the Republican Party helping to spread Donald Trump’s lie that the election was stolen. Her rejection of what has become a mainstream Republican talking point has alienated her from the party and led to her being removed from Republican leadership in the House.
