Embattled Florida congressman Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) invited Britney Spears to testify before Congress about her conservatorship fight and how she was mistreated by the country’s legal system.
“You have been mistreated by America’s legal system. We want to help. The United States Congress should hear your story and be inspired to bipartisan action. What happened to you should never happen to any other American. Congress can make things better, and you can inform our policy decisions. If you will speak to Congress, we are ready to listen,” Gaetz wrote in a letter consigned by Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Georgia), Andy Biggs (Arizona), and Burgess Owens (Utah).
“The federal courthouse door was closed to you and to too many Americans,” Gaetz continued. “Your story is so powerful, and the admiration of your achievements so great, you (and perhaps only you) can blow that door wide open, giving hope to millions. Your life, liberty and happiness have been taken from you. Please take advantage of the empowerment that public congressional testimony can unblock.”
Gaetz’s attempts to get Spears to testify did not stop there. The congressman, who is under investigation for alleged sex trafficking went on OANN to plead with the superstar to appear before Congress.
“She’s not someone who wants to just crawl under a rug and pretend this didn’t happen. She wants accountability and justice, and I can think of no better place than the United States Congress to really tackle this problem and bring people together from all sides of politics to solve it,” Gaetz’s said according to Insider.
Last month, Spears pleaded with the court to end the conservatorship imposed on her and describe not having control over life. On July 1 a judge denied her request to removed her father from her conservatorship.
However, Bessemer Trust, the wealth-management firm acting as the co-conservator of Spears’ estate, asked on Thursday to withdraw from the guardianship arrangement, according to insider.
