Republican congressman claims post celebrating Americans losing health care and children going hungry “was an error.”

Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Wis.) claimed that his social media post celebrating millions of Americans losing health care and children going without food was made in error.

The House passed Donald Trump’s reconciliation bill on Thursday with more than $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and drastic cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that could cost millions of low-income families crucial food assistance in every state.

Shortly after the bill’s passage, Van Orden wrote an all caps “YES!” in response to a X user who argued that “17 million people just lost health care. 18 million kids just lost school meals. 3 million Americans just lost food assistance.”

The congressman deleted the tweet after facing backlash and claimed it was an “error.”

“That was supposed to be a response to a different text. And, all of that is BS,” he wrote.

“It has (sic) because it was an error,” he added.
