Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fl.) claimed babies killed during Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas are “not innocent Palestinian civilians”.
The congressman made the stunning claim Tuesday when confronted by anti-war group ‘Code Pink’ at the Capitol and accused of being “heartless” by supporting Israel.
“You haven’t seen the pictures of all the babies being killed?” a member of the group asked Mast.
“These are not innocent Palestinian civilians,” he responded.
Mast– a veteran who has volunteered with Israel Defense Forces and wore an IDF uniform in the Capitol last October– has previously denied that anyone in Gaza is innocent.
“I think when we look at this as a whole, I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of ‘innocent Palestinian civilians,’ as is frequently said,” Mast said in November. “I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II.”
IDF has killed more than 25,000 Palestinians in retaliation for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack by Hamas that left more than 1,200 civilians and Israeli troops dead. Most of the dead Palestinians are women and children, according to the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza.
