Republican House candidate who pitches herself as Virginia’s Donald Trump ends congressional bid after redistricting.

Republican House candidate who describes herself as 'Trump in heels' ends congressional bid after redistricting.

Amanda Chase, a Virginia state senator who once described herself as ‘Trump in heels’ will no longer run for Congress due to Virginia’s new redistricting map.

Prior to redistricting, Chase joined the crowded field to replace incumbent Democrat Rep. Abigail Spanberger in Virginia’s 7th congressional district. However, the new map approved by the state Supreme Court last week moved Chase’s residence from the Virginia’s 7th district to the 1st district which is represented by incumbent GOP Rep. Rob Wittman.

“I will not challenge a Republican representative who is doing a good job representing the people of their district. I no longer live in the 7th Congressional District, which was represented by Democrat Abigail Spanberger,” Chase said in a statement. “With that, I plan to finish my 2 years in the Senate of Virginia and discontinue my run for Congress as it is already represented by Republican Rob Wittman,” she added.

Spanberger announced last month that she plans to run in the newly redrawn 7th congressional district.

“Nearly 200,000 Virginians in the new Seventh District have already been my constituents under the current district lines, and I look forward to continuing my service representing them as well as my future constituents,” she said in a statement.

Chase was censured by a bipartisan majority in the Virginia state senate last year for her comments referring to the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 as “patriots.”
