Republican senator slams JD Vance for defending strikes on alleged Venezuelan drug boat.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) criticized Vice-President JD Vance for defending the Trump administration’s strike on an alleged drug boat from Venezuela.

On Tuesday, Trump announced that US forces destroyed a vessel leaving Venezuela. The strike killed 11 people. Trump claims the boat was operated by the Tren de Aragua cartel and was carrying drugs bound for the US.

Experts say the strike was illegal under international law.

On Saturday, Vance wrote on X, “Killing cartel members who poison our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our military.”

Brian Krassenstein, a progressive activist, responded to Vance’s post saying, “Killing the citizens of another nation who are civilians without any due process is called a war crime.”

Vance then replied, “I don’t give a s*** what you call it.”

Paul slammed Vance’s response, calling it “despicable and thoughtless”

“JD ‘I don’t give a shit’ Vance says killing people he accuses of a crime is the ‘highest and best use of the military,’” Paul wrote. “Did he ever read To Kill a Mockingbird? Did he ever wonder what might happen if the accused were immediately executed without trial or representation?? What a despicable and thoughtless sentiment it is to glorify killing someone without a trial.”
