Several House Republicans led by Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs (R) sent a letter to 14 telecommunications companies on Tuesday requesting that they preserve the phone records of 16 Democrats for future investigations.
The letter comes after the Jan. 6 select committee announced they asked telecom companies to preserve records for congressional Republicans who participated in the ‘Stop the Steal’ rally.
In the letter on Tuesday, Republicans say if the companies decide to turn over records requested by the Jan. 6 committee, then they must also preserve the records of several Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rep. Eric Swalwell, according to Fox Business.
The letters were sent to Amazon, AOL, Apple, AT&T, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Snap, Inc., T-Mobile, Twitter, US Cellular, Verizon, Signal and Telegram.
Pro-Trump Republican Reps. Jody Hice (Ga), Scott Perry (Penn.), Madison Cawthorn (N.C.), Marjorie Taylor-Greene (Ga), Matt Gaetz (FL), Paul Gosar (Ariz.) and Louie Gohmert (Texas), signed Biggs’ letter to Twitter.
