RNC chair calls Democrats "chaos and pro-criminal"

Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, called Democrats “chaos and pro-criminal” Friday, days after a Republican-led effort ousted the GOP Speaker of the House and the frontrunner for the Republican Party nomination for president faces 91 charges across four indictments.

“Trump voters, Republican voters – we want safety. We want fentanyl to be removed from the streets. We want our border closed. So, the Democrats are a pro-crime, pro-criminal, pro-fentanyl party right now. Their policies have shown that,” McDaniel said on Fox News.

Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican Party nomination for president, faces criminal charges in New York for alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election and in Florida for alleged mishandling of classified documents and obstruction of justice. The former president also faces federal charges in Washington D.C and state charges in Georgia stemming from his efforts to remain in power after he lost the 2020 presidential election.

“We’re commonsense. They’re chaos and pro-criminal,” McDaniel said.

McDaniel’s remarks come after a chaotic week for Republicans in the House. Members of their own party led a successful effort to remove Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as Speaker. His ouster came just nine months after he secured the gavel on the 15th round of voting on the fourth day.

Now, Republicans are searching for a new Speaker and their choices have been narrowed down to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, who has been called a “legislative terrorist” and House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) who referred to himself as “David Duke without the baggage.”

Yet, McDaniel claimed on Friday that House Republicans will be in good hands no matter who ends up as Speaker, adding “they’ll do a great job.”
