Ronna McDaniel to resign as RNC chair.

MSNBC has no plans to put ex-RNC chair Ronna McDaniel on air.

Republican National Committee (RNC) chair Ronna McDaniel is planning to step down from her leadership role, according to The New York Times.

Sources familiar with McDaniel’s plans told The Times that she plans to step down shortly after the Feb. 24 Republican primary in South Carolina.

McDaniel has briefed Donald Trump on her decision.

Several sources told the newspaper that Trump plans to endorse election denier and North Carolina GOP Chairman Michael Whatley’s bid to replace McDaniel.

McDaniel’s departure comes as the RNC is struggling to raise money. Recent Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings show the RNC had just $8 million in the bank and $1 million in debt.

McDaniel has also faced criticism in recent election cycles as Republican candidates have underperformed in key races. But,that was likely due to Trump endorsing fringe candidates in the Republican primary who are unable to win in a general election.
