Russian foreign minister praises Fox News for 'trying to represent some alternative points of view'

Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov criticized western media for their coverage of Russia especially since the invasion of Ukraine, with one notable exception: Fox News.

In an interview with RT, Lavrov praised Fox News as the lone Western media outlet “trying to represent some alternative points of view,” according to Mediaite.

“We know the manners and the tricks which are being used by the Western countries to manipulate media,” Lavrov said. “We understood long ago that there is no such thing as an independent Western media. If you take the United States only Fox News is trying to present some alternative points of view.”

Since the invasion Fox News has come under fire for commentary that appears to come straight from the Kremlin. The network’s top host, Tucker Carlson has become a “regular feature” on Russian state TV because of his pro-Russia stance on the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin even sent out a memo instructing state media to use clips of Carlson as much as possible in their coverage of the war.
