Santos’ campaign fund reports a net loss in first quarter.

New York Republicans to present resolution to expel George Santos from Congress.

Rep. George Santos’ re-election bid appears to be in jeopardy as the embattled GOP lawmaker campaign is struggling to raise cash and is in the red.

Federal Election Commission filing shows Santos’ campaign has had a net loss of about $3,000 in the first three months of the year. The campaign raised about $5,300 between January 1 and March 31 but refunded roughly $8,300 to donors during the same period.

The campaign reported no expenditures this year other than the refunds. There were also no loan repayments, despite the $715,000 loan which Santos claimed he made to the campaign last election cycle. The loan is now the subject of a FEC probe.

Santos’ campaign has just over $25,000 cash on hand, according to the filing.

The embattled congressman has resisted calls to resign from members of his own party after he admitted to lying about his personal, professional, education and family background while campaigning for office. Santos also faces investigation from state and federal prosecutors. He is also under investigation by the House ethics committee.

Santos’ dismal fundraising numbers raises serious doubts about his prospects even as he is set to officially announce that he running for re-election on Monday, according to the New York Post.

Afghanistan war veteran Kellen Curry announced earlier this month that he will be challenging Santos in the GOP primary.
