GOP Sen. Mike Lee (Utah) said HR-1, a bill passed in the House last week that would expand voting rights, was written by the devil.
“Everything in this bill is rotten to the core,” Lee said on Fox & Friends Wednesday. “This is a bill as if written in hell by the devil himself.”
One of the provisions in the bill bars states from restricting the ability to vote by mail and calls for independent redistricting commissions to draw the electoral map.
The bill also includes provisions to provide automatic voter registration, expand early voting and restore voting rights for felons who’ve complete their prison sentences, according to CNN.
