The Senate voted on Saturday to confirm former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro as top prosecutor for the District of Columbia.

The vote was along party lines, 50-45, with Senators Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Roger Wicker, R-Miss., Peter Welch, D-Vt., and Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., not voting.

Pirro has been one of Donald Trump’s most vocal defenders, previously using her platform as a host of two Fox News programs to push conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election.

Pirro was a central figure cited in the defamation lawsuit against Fox News by Dominion Voting Systems for her role in spreading the election disinformation.

Pirro had been serving as interim U.S. attorney for DC since May after another controversial MAGA figure, Ed Martin, failed to get enough votes to be confirmed for the role.
