‘Sleepy Don’ had to be “jolted awake” by attorney in court.

Trump denies sleeping in court: ‘I simply close my beautiful blue eyes’

Donald Trump fell asleep in court again on Monday during his criminal hush money-election interference trial and had to be “jolted awake” by his attorney, the New York Times reports.

The trial resumed on Monday with opening arguments and testimony from National Enquirer publisher David Pecker.

But Trump was caught falling asleep shortly after proceedings began.

“Trump is struggling to stay awake,” NYT investigative reporter Susanne Craig wrote in the live blog. “His eyes were closed for a short period. He was jolted awake when Todd Blanche, his lawyer, nudged him while sliding a note in front of him.”

This is at least the fourth time Trump has fallen asleep during his first criminal trial.

The Biden campaign has flipped the script on Trump, labeling the former President ‘Sleepy Don’ following reports that he fell asleep at multiple points during his trial.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records tied to hush money paid to adult-film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.
