Soccer superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly selling his apartment in Trump Tower at a price less than half what he originally paid for it.
Ronaldo purchased the luxury apartment in Trump’s 5th Avenue building for $18.5 million in 2015. His 2,509-square-foot loft features three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.
He first put it on the market in 2019 for $9 million after fans signed a petition urging him to distance himself from former President Donald Trump, Vanity Fair reports.
But the athlete, who is worth an estimated $120 million was forced to lower the asking price due to the pandemic and lack of offers. He is now attempting to offload the property for just $7.75 million.
Ronaldo’s inability to sell the property is proof of just how toxic the Trump brand has become during his one-term as president.
Trump-branded Manhattan properties have lost more than 20 percent of their value since Trump took office according to an analysis from real-estate data firm UrbanDigs. By comparison, the overall price per square foot decline in Manhattan over the same period was just 9 percent, Insider reports.
