St. Louis protesters call on Sen. Josh Hawley to resign.

Protesters gathered on Saturday in downtown St. Louis to demand that Sen. Josh Hawley resign.

The masked protesters gathered outside the Old Courthouse waving handmade signs that read “Resign Hawley” and “The blood’s on your hands” and chanted “no Hawley. No KKK. No fascist USA,” according to the Associated Press.

They also painted “RESIGN HAWLEY” in large yellow block letters in the middle of the street.

Hawley was the first Republican senator to announce that he’s challenging Electoral College results in Congress. He decided to continue his objection to Joe Biden’s victory even after the pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol.

In the days after the attack, Hawley has been facing strong criticisms from both sides of the aisle.

His mentor, former Missouri Republican Sen. John Danforth said endorsing Hawley was the “worst decision” he ever made in his life.

The Student Bar Association of the University of Missouri Law School, where Hawley once taught, along with the editorial boards of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Kansas City Star, have called for Hawley to resign.

His publisher, Simon & Schuster, announced on Thursday that they will no longer publish his book citing his role in the “disturbing and deadly insurrection” at the Capitol.
