Staffers flee Mark Robinson’s campaign.

Several top staffers for North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson’s gubernatorial campaign resigned on Sunday.

Last week a CNN report revealed several inflammatory comments Robinson made on a pornography website’s message board under the username ‘minisoldr’ between 2008 and 2012.

In the messages, Robinson referred to himself as a “black NAZI, expressed support for reinstating slavery, repeatedly use homophobic slurs and fondly recalled spying on women in locker rooms, among other comments some of which CNN excluded from their report for being to graphic.

Robinson has denied these claims, saying the porn message board comments were not made by him.

On Sunday, the campaign released a statement revealing that the campaign manager, finance director, deputy campaign manager, and senior adviser have all resigned.

Robinson said he plans to stay in the race despite the resignation of top campaign officials.

“My campaign will continue to focus on the substantive issues at stake in this election: building an economy that grows from Murphy to Manteo; cutting taxes and eliminating unnecessary red-tape; removing politics out of our classrooms; and cracking down on violent crime and dangerous drugs,” Robinson said in the statement.

He added, “Polls have consistently underestimated Republican support in North Carolina for several cycles now and with a large portion of the electorate still undecided as we continue to ramp up our efforts across the state, I am confident our campaign remains in a strong position to make our case to the voters and win on November 5.”
