A 12-foot statue of Donald Trump holding hands with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was unveiled in DC on Tuesday, according to reports.
The statue, made from a combination of foam, resin, wood and wire, shows Trump and Epstein holding hands and smiling at each as they pranced together.
A group called The Secret Handshake is taking credit for the statue that was erected directly across from the Capitol. A spokesperson for the group said the statue will remain on display until Saturday.
There are three plaques below the statue. One says the display is “in Honor of Friendship Month” in September. The other two contain excerpts from the lewd birthday letter Trump allegedly wrote Epstein for his 50th birthday.
Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died by suicide while in custody at a Manhattan correctional facility awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges in 2019.
Trump and Epstein were close friends for years. Trump referred to Epstein as a “terrific guy” while Epstein believed himself to be Trump’s “closest friend.”
Their friendship ended in mid-2000s. Trump revealed in July that he had ended his friendship with Epstein after he “stole” young female employees from his Mar-a-Lago club spa.
A White House spokesperson slammed the display in a statement to The Independent.
“Liberals are free to waste their money however they see fit – but it’s not news that Epstein knew Donald Trump, because Donald Trump kicked Epstein out of his club for being a creep,” The spokesperson said. “Democrats, the media, and the organization that’s wasting their money on this statue knew about Epstein and his victims for years and did nothing to help them while President Trump was calling for transparency, and is now delivering on it with thousands of pages of documents.”
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Trump’s name appeared multiple times in the Epstein files that the administration is refusing to release to the public.
