White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller predicted on Monday that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will go down in history as the ‘Henry Kissinger of our time.’
In a Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham, Miller was asked about reports that Donald Trump is considering him for the role of national security adviser.
“We have a tremendous national security adviser right now his name is Marco Rubio,” Miller said in a clip highlighted by Mediaite. “I’ve gotten to know Marco so well, I consider him a close friend. He’s doing an extraordinary job. He will be the Kissinger of our time, and I’m just proud to work alongside him in my role as deputy chief and homeland security adviser.”
Kissinger, arguably the most famous and polarizing American diplomat in the 20th century, served as secretary of state under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.
He opened U.S. foreign relations with China, was a key architect of the “détente” policy with the Soviet Union and negotiating the Paris Peace Accords, which ended the Vietnam War.
Rubio, meanwhile, has spent his first few months as secretary of state refreshing Trump’s Truth Social feed to find out the president’s position that day on any given issue including Israel’s war with Hamas, Russia’s war in Ukraine and which allied country he plans to invade.
Miller told Ingraham that he is working “very closely” with Rubio to deport illegal migrants to foreign prisons.
“That’s actually one example of how I’m working with Marco on a day-to-day basis to execute President Trump’s agenda, and let me tell you, President Trump made the right choice with this appointment,” he added.
Trump appointed Rubio as National Security Adviser last week after removing Mike Waltz amid the SignalGate group chat fallout.
This new appointment brings the total number of jobs Rubio has in the Trump administration to four: Secretary of State, National Security Adviser, USAID Administrator, and Archivist of the United States.
