Stephen Miller’s uncle, David Glosser is blaming the Trump administration’s mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic for the death of his mother and Miller’s maternal grandmother on July 4.
Glosser, a frequent Trump critic who has publicly denounced Miller for his anti-immigrant policies wrote in a Facebook post on July 4 that his mother, Ruth Glosser died of the late effects of COVID-19 after she survived the acute infection in March but was left with lung and neurological damage “that destroyed her will to eat and her ability to breathe well enough to sustain arousal and consciousness.”
He blames Trump’s initial “lack of response” to the coronavirus pandemic for the death of many Americans. “With the death of my mother, I’m angry and outraged at [Miller] directly and the administration he has devoted his energy to supporting,” Glosser said in an interview.
A spokesperson for the White House said it is “categorically false” that Miller’s grandmother died from the coronavirus., “she was diagnosed with COVID in March and passed away in July so that timeline does not add up at all. His grandmother died peacefully in her sleep from old age,” the White House’s statement says.
But according to the death certificate David Glosser shared with Mother Jones, Ruth Glosser’s cause of death was listed as “respiratory arrest” resulting from “COVID-19.”
Informed of this new development, the White House doubled down, telling Mother Jones, “Again, this is categorically false. She had a mile [sic] case of COVID-19 in March. She was never hospitalized and made a full and quick recovery.”
