Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon reportedly spent “months” encouraging prominent anti-vaxxer Robert Kennedy Jr. to challenge Joe Biden in 2024.
According to CBS News, Bannon urged Kennedy to run because he believed RFK Jr could be a “useful chaos agent in the 2024 race” and “a big name who could help stoke anti-vaccine sentiment around the country.”
Kennedy, an environmental lawyer, emerged as one of the leading voices in the anti-vaccine during the COVID-19 pandemic which saw him becoming more closely aligned with Republicans and the far-right.
Though he has not officially announced he is joining the race, Kennedy filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday saying he plans to run as a Democrat in 2024.
