Susan Collins is ‘concerned’ about Musk’s efforts to control federal spending.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), the chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, told reporters on Wednesday that she is “concerned” about right wing billionaire Elon Musk’s efforts to undermine Congress’s spending power.

“There’s no doubt that the president appears to have empowered Elon Musk far beyond what I think is appropriate,” Collins told Politico. “I think a lot of it is going to end up in court.”

Collins’ comments come as Musk continues his illegal and unconstitutional raid on the federal government.

He is withholding congressionally mandated funds to programs he believes to be wasteful spending, shutting down agencies like the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and has in recent days gained access to sensitive data at federal agencies and directed young assistants to seize power through his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“I am concerned if the Trump administration is clawing back money that has been specifically appropriated for a particular purpose,”Collins said Wednesday.

Collins also criticized the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB)move to freeze of all federal grants last week causing panic and chaos.

Collins said the move was “far too sweeping” and it would have “an adverse effect on the delivery of services and programs.”

However, Collins said she still plans to vote to confirm Project 2025 author Russell Vought, to lead OMB.
