Suspected Minnesota assassin targeting Democrats, Vance Boelter, caught.

Vance Boelter, the man accused of killing a Democratic lawmaker and her husband and wounding another lawmaker and his wife has been arrested after more than a day on the run, according to reports.

Boelter was arrested and taken into custody in a field in Sibley County Sunday night, sources told local station Fox 9.

Boelter was reportedly dressed in all black and carrying a backpack. He ran down a driveway and into the woods as police closed in on him. When a drone flew overhead, Boelter raised his hands and surrendered.

“The face of evil. After relentless and determined police work, the killer is now in custody,” the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.

Officials say Boelter disguised himself as a police officer to gain entry to the lawmakers’ homes.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, Boelter shot state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette multiple times in their home in Champlin. They are both now awake after surgery. He then went to the home of former Speaker Melissa Hortman, where he shot and killed her and her husband Mark.

Officials say Brooklyn Park police arrived at Hortman’s home around 3:35 a.m. and found a police SUV with emergency lights on. Boelter then exited Hortman’s home and exchanged gunfire with officers before fleeing on foot.

He has been on the run since then until he was caught Sunday night.

Boelter has been charged with two counts of second degree murder and two counts of attempted second degree murder.

Boelter’s best friend David Carlson, who has known him since fourth grade, told media outlets that he is anti-abortion, a Christian and voted for Donald Trump, according to Reuters.
