Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) says he “understands” Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) decision to endorse Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election after a brutal GOP primary.
“I understand that journey, I was in that position,” Cruz said during an interview on CNN. “Now, she didn’t win any states, but she was the last person standing. I understand and she was in a hard-fought primary, I have been in that spot.”
Haley in 2024—like Cruz in 2016—was Trump’s last remaining GOP contender in the primary contest.
Trump lobbed vicious personal attacks on Haley and her family similar to how he slandered Cruz’s wife and father in 2016.
Haley in return has called Trump “mentally unfit,” “unstable,” “unhinged,” and “not qualified.”
Yet, on Wednesday Haley announced she will be voting for Trump in November.
