Texas Lt. Gov.: “We are a red state, we deserve more representation.”

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) declared on Tuesday that the Lone Star state deserves more representation because they are a “red state.”

Patrick’s comment comes as some Texas Democrats left the state on Sunday to deny the state House quorum to push through a rare mid-decade redistricting plan ahead of the 2026 midterms. The plan aims to boost the GOP’s odds of maintaining control of the U.S. House of Representatives after the midterms by creating five new Republican districts.

In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Patrick vowed that the plan to rig the 2026 midterms will be successful before declaring that red states deserve “more representation”.

“We’re either gonna do it now, we’re gonna do it in later August, we’re gonna do it in September, we’re gonna do it in October,” Patrick said. “Whatever it takes, we’re going to get it done.”

“There’s nothing they can do to stop us. And I challenge them. Come back and do the right thing. Don’t run and hide because you’ve lost touch with the voters. Their problem… is they’ve lost the minds of their voters, who are moving towards the Republican Party all over the country,” he continued. “We are a red state, we deserve more representation.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump told CNBC’s Squawk Box that Republicans are “entitled” to five additional seats in Texas.

Democratic-controlled states, including California and New York are pledging to gerrymander their own maps in response to Texas.
