Texts reveal officials in Texas referring to Kristi Noem as “Homeland Barbie” after deadly flood.

Officials in Texas mocked Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem after the deadly flooding earlier this month.

Texts obtained by local ABC affiliate KSAT showed Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice referring to Noem as “homeland Barbie” in an exchange with a city staffer.

“Just saw you met Homeland Barbi, how is she?!?!?!” the staffer texted.

“Beahahaha basically homeland Barbie,” Rice responded.

The texts were sent on the afternoon of July 5 following a press conference in Kerrville with Noem, state and local leaders to provide an update on search and rescue efforts, KSAT reported.

At least 137 people have died, including 108 in Kerr County, during the deadly July 4 flooding.

“Homeland Barbie” and “ICE Barbie” have become go-to nicknames for Noem since her confirmation earlier this year. The names encapsulate Noem’s theatrical approach to the role.
