Two House Democrats voted against the resolution to expel indicted GOP Rep. George Santos from Congress.
Congress expelled Santos on a 311-114 vote Friday, with 2 lawmakers voting present.
Two Democrats joined 112 House Republicans to oppose the measure. They are Reps. Bobby Scott (Va.) and Nikema Williams (Ga.). Democratic Reps. Jonathan Jackson of Illinois and Al Green of Texas voted ‘present.’
Santos is the sixth member of the House ever to be expelled and the first in 21 years. His expulsion comes weeks after a damning House ethics committee report report and a 23-count federal indictment charging him with crimes, including aggravated identity theft and wire fraud.
All four House GOP leaders, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), voted to keep Santos in Congress
