Threats to Democracy' is the most important issue facing the country, poll finds.

According to a new NBC News poll released on Sunday the top issue on voters’ minds fewer than three months before the midterm elections is ‘threats to democracy.”

The poll finds that 21% of voters say “threats to democracy” is the most critical issue facing the country right now. 16 percent say the most important issue is “cost of living,” while 14 percent say it is “jobs and the economy.”

The poll also finds that a majority of voters, 57%, believe investigations into former President Donald Trump alleged misconduct should continue, while 40 percent say the investigations should stop.

This comes after the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago and found 11 sets of classified documents.

Court documents revealed that the former president is under investigation by the Department of Justice for possibly violating the Espionage Act, obstruction of justice and criminal handling of government records. He’s also under investigation by the DOJ in connection to the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the US Capitol.

92% of Democratic voters, 61% of independents and only 21% of Republican voters think the investigations into Trump should continue.

The NBC News poll was conducted between Aug. 12 and Aug. 16, after the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago. The poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters and it has an overall margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points
