Three white men accused in the death of Ahmaud Arbery, while he was jogging in the Glynn County neighborhood on February 23, were indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday.
The father and son duo, Gregory and Travis McMichael along with William R. Bryan were indicted on nine counts, including malice murder, felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
“We will continue to be intentional in the pursuit of justice for this family and the community at large as the prosecution of this case continues,” Cobb County District Attorney Joyette Holmes said at a press conference, according to CNN.
The McMichaels were arrested more than two months after Arbery was killed while jogging just outside the port city of Brunswick. They told police at the time that they chased him in their truck because they believed he was a burglar.
The McMichaels were charged on May 7 with murder and aggravated assaulted. Bryan was arrested two weeks later and charged with felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
