Vice-President Kamala Harris’ running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) has declared himself to be the ‘anti-Tommy Tuberville’ proving that not all football coaches are dumb.
Walz was a successful high school football coach who led Minnesota’s Mankato West High School to the state championship in 1999.
Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R) is also a successful coach, but at the college level with a 159-99 record over 21 seasons, 14 of which were spent in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
But, being a coach is all the two men have in common.
While speaking at a Boston fundraiser for his campaign with Harris, Walz took a shot at Tuberville who has somewhat of a reputation for saying pretty….dumb things.
“I feel like one of my roles in this now is to be the anti-Tommy Tuberville, to show that football coaches are not the dumbest people,” he said according to pool reports.
Cody Sargent, Tuberville’s former press secretary, fired back at Walz on X, writing: “You’re a former high school *assistant* coach now overseeing a massive decline in student performance as governor. Senator Tuberville is a 5x national Coach of the Year and 7x conference champion. So, no, Tim Walz, you’re no Coach Tuberville.”
Tuberville was first elected to the Senate in 2020, but during that short time span he has courted controversy with his actions ranging from his unpopular and damaging 10-month blockade of military promotions to refusing to denounce white supremacy.
The Alabama senator has also botched several historical facts including saying that World War II was fought “to free Europe of socialism” and misidentified the three branches of government saying they were “the House, the Senate, and the executive.”
Tuberville’s conduct has earned him the title of ‘America’s dumbest Senator’ by his home state newspaper.
