Trump accuses Casey DeSantis of trying to "rig" the Iowa caucuses.

Donald Trump is accusing Florida’s first lady Casey DeSantis of trying to rig next month’s Iowa caucuses after she called on out of state supporters of her husband to participate.

DeSantis appeared with her husband, GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, on Fox News Friday and encouraged “moms and grandmoms to come, from wherever it might be — North Carolina, South Carolina — and to descend upon the state of Iowa to be a part of the caucus.”

She has since clarified her remarks on Twitter saying she was calling for volunteers, not for voters out of state to participate in the caucuses.

But, that explanation did not go over well with the Trump campaign who slammed DeSantis for trying to “rig” the caucuses in her husband’s favor.

“We demand the Governor of Iowa Kim Reynolds clarify what the rules are and that the instructions given by the DeSantises are flagrantly wrong that could further disenfranchise caucus-goers,” The Trump campaign said in a statement to Politico. “The Trump campaign strongly condemns their dirty and illegal tactics and implores all Trump supporters to be aware of the DeSantises’ openly stated plot to rig the Caucus through fraud.”

The Trump-aligned Make America Great Again PAC also slammed DeSantis in statement titled “Casey DeSantis’ Embrace of Voter Fraud,” Politico reports.

“Casey DeSantis’ embrace of voter fraud to salvage her husband’s failing campaign is not just wrong, it risks compromising the integrity of the Iowa Caucus,” the PAC said.
