Trump administration email orders US citizen to self-deport ‘immediately’.

A US citizen who is an immigration attorney received an email from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) this week instructing her to leave the country “immediately.”

Nicole Micheroni, a partner at Cameron Micheroni & Silvia LLC in Massachusetts, received the DHS email on Friday morning saying that her parole has been terminated and she should self deport or risk facing serious consequences.

“It is time for you to leave the United States,” the email sent to Micheroni, who was born in the US, reads. “DHS is now exercising its discretion to terminate your parole. Unless it expires sooner, your parole will terminate 7 days from the date of this notice.”

“Again, DHS is terminating your parole,” it added. “Do not attempt to remain in the United States – the federal government will find you. Please depart the United States immediately.”

A spokesperson for DHS told Newsweek that emails were sent to those associated with parole cases.

Micheroni, who is not on parole, told the outlet that she initially thought the email was intended for one of her clients, but she quickly noticed that it was only addressed to her.

“It caught me a little off-guard,” she said. “But afterwards, I was like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe they are just sending this out to those it just doesn’t apply to.'”

“Some personal news: the Department of Homeland Security has given me, an immigration lawyer born in Newton, Massachusetts, seven days to leave the US,” wrote Micheroni in a post on Bluesky. “Does anyone know if you can get Italian citizenship through great-grandparents?”

The notice comes as thousands of Haitian and Venezuelan immigrants who were given humanitarian parole during the Biden administration, have been told to leave the US because their legal protections have ended.

Roughly 240,000 Ukrainians who are in the US legally under a Biden-era policy known as Uniting for Ukraine or U4U, also had their status revoked last week. It was reinstated because a spokesperson for DHS said that the notice had been sent by accident.
