Trump admits to having a gun in Florida in probation interview after felony conviction

Donald Trump might have committed another federal crime when he reportedly admitted to possessing a firearm in Florida at his pre-sentencing interview on Monday, according to CNN.

A Manhattan jury convicted Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records last month. Sentencing is set for July 11.

At his pre-sentencing interview on Monday Trump told officials with the New York City Department of Probation that there was a gun in Florida.

It is believed to be one of the three weapons listed on Trump’s New York City permit to carry concealed weapons. Two were turned over to the NYPD last March and the other “was lawfully moved to Florida,” according to CNN.

It is a federal crime for a convicted felon to possess a firearm.

Police in Palm Beach told CNN that they are not aware of any gun Trump might have and none had been turned over to them since Trump’s conviction last month.

A source with knowledge of the probation investigation said the information on the outstanding gun “will be referred to local authorities in Florida to take whatever steps are necessary.”

Trump’s New York concealed carry license was suspended after his arrest by the Manhattan DA’s office last year. It will now be revoked after his felony conviction.
