Donald Trump asked President Vladimir Putin to release dirt on the Biden family even though Russia is currently engaged in a war against Ukraine which the US has condemned.
In an interview with JustTheNews,John Solomon and Amanda Head, published on Tuesday, Trump pushed an unproven claim about Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Russia, and asked Putin to release any information that he might have about the situation.
“One thing, while I’m on your show, as long as Putin now is not exactly a fan of our country, let him explain, where did — because Chris Wallace wouldn’t let me ask the question — why did the mayor of Moscow’s wife give the Bidens, both of them, $3.5 million dollars? That’s a lot of money,” Trump said. “I would think Putin would know the answer to that. I think he should release it.”
Solomon who a pro-Trump journalist whose whose previous coverage about the Bidens’ ties to Ukraine has been discredited, according to CNN.
Hunter Biden had previously said he had “no interest” in the firm that received the money, so “the claim he was paid $3.5 million was false.”
In October 2020, Putin said he was unaware of any business ties between Biden and Elena Baturina, the wife of the former Moscow mayor, NBC reports.
The request of Putin harkens back to the 2016 presidential campaign when Trump asked the Russian government to find and release any emails belonging to his Democratic rival and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” he said at a news conference.
As president, Trump withheld congressionally approved military aid to Ukraine to pressure that country’s government to dig up dirt on Hunter Biden and then-candidate Joe Biden, who was seeking the Democratic presidential nomination at the time. The request lead to the Trump’s first impeachment.
