Trump attacks Tim Walz as manhunt for Minnesota assassin targeting Democrats continues.

Trump praised Tim Walz for his handling of George Floyd protests in 2020.

Donald Trump slammed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) on Sunday as police in Minnesota continue their search for the assassin who killed a Democratic lawmaker in the state on Saturday and wounded another.

“Well, it’s a terrible thing,” Trump told ABC’s Rachel Scott on Sunday. “I think he’s a terrible governor. I think he’s a grossly incompetent person. But I may — I may call him. I may call other people too.”

Trump’s comments came one day after Vance Luther Boelter, 57, assassinated Minnesota Democratic state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and shot state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, in their respective homes early Saturday morning.

Police are still searching for Boelter who gained entry to the lawmakers’ homes by impersonating a police officer. They found his second vehicle on Sunday in Sibley County, located about 50 miles southwest of the Twin Cities.

Boelter’s best friend David Carlson, who has known him since fourth grade, told media outlets that he is anti-abortion, a Christian and voted for Donald Trump, according to Reuters.

Boelter reportedly had a target list with the names of dozens of Minnesota Democrats. Investigators retrieved the list from the police car Boelter left outside Hortman’s home as he fled after exchanging gunfire with officers.

Walz is on that list along with U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, U.S. Sen. Tina Smith, state Attorney General Keith Ellison and others.
