Donald Trump lashed out at Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie (R) on Friday following his performance in the GOP debate on Wednesday.
“Sloppy Chris Christie is not fit to run for President. He is suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome,” Trump wrote on his Truth social website. “According to all, he came in LAST in the debate, and I came in FIRST, as I have in all of the debates, without even being there. MAGA!”
The criticism comes after Christie made headlines due to his continued attacks on Trump during Wednesday night’s debate and calling out his rivals’ reluctance to do the same.
During the debate Christie called Trump “unfit” for another term and said the former president, who faces four criminal indictments, could be a convicted felon by the time of the 2024 presidential elections.
“We’ve had these three, acting as if the race is between the four of us… And for us to go 17 minutes without discussing the guy who has all those gaudy numbers you talked about is ridiculous,” Christie said.
“I’m in this race because the truth needs to be spoken: He is unfit. This is a guy who just said this past week that he wants to use the Department of Justice to go after his enemies when he gets in there. And the fact of the matter is, he is unfit to be president,” he added. “And there is no bigger issue in this race … than Donald Trump and those numbers prove it.”
