Trump-endorsed candidate for Georgia’s 10th district, Vernon Jones, was beaten in the runoff election on Tuesday by Republican Mike Collins.
Collins won the primary last month but fell short of the 50 percent needed to avoid a runoff.
Jones, a former Democrat was in the race for governor but dropped out when Trump promised to endorse him for the solidly Republican House seat.
Collins was endorsed by Gov. Brian Kemp (R). Kemp demolished Trump-endorsed candidate former senator David Perdue in last month’s gubernatorial primary.
Jones was not the only Trump-endorsed candidate to lose his runoff election on Tuesday. Jake Evans, the candidate for Georgia’s 6th district lost to Rich McCormick, according to the Associated Press.
