Donald Trump was not in the Yankee Stadium for Thursday’s night game between the host and the Toronto Blue Jays but he’s so hated in his former home town that even the mention of his name provokes a negative response.
Supporters of Trump were met with boos as they unfurled a “TRUMP WON” banner off the second deck during the game, according to Lindsey Adler, a reporter for The Athletic who covers the Yankees.
The crowd at the event cheered as the Trump supporters and their banner spreading conspiracy theories were led out by security, according to Adler.
Months after the presidential election, Trump and his allies are still claiming that it was stolen from him. This lie has resulted in Republican-controlled legislatures across the country passing laws to limit access to the ballot box.
As of March 24, legislators have introduced 361 bills with restrictive provisions in 47 states. Five have already been signed into law, according to the Brennan Center.
