Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Tuesday to rant about his “pole numbers” ahead of the GOP primary election in New Hampshire on Tuesday.
“I GET MUCH BETTER POLE NUMBERS AGAINST BIDEN THAN NIKKI HALEY, NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!” Trump wrote.
Polling shows Trump with a double digit lead over Haley in New Hampshire among Republican primary voters, after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out.
Haley has been arguing she is more electable in a general election against incumbent President Joe Biden and several polls show that to be the case.
Though polling shows both Trump and Haley leading Biden, Haley has a bigger lead in a potential head-to-head matchup with the president. A CBS News/YouGov poll of likely voters conducted from January 10-12 found Trump leading Biden by two points nationwide, 50-48. The same poll shows Haley leading Biden by 8 points, 53-45. The poll has a margin of error of ±2.5 percent.
The Koch Network, which endorsed Haley, released a memo on Sunday warning that Trump will lose against Biden in 2024.
According to the memo obtained by Puck News, Trump’s legal battles are already a turnoff among voters outside the MAGA base of the Republican party and it could get much worse if he is convicted in one of his federal or state criminal cases.
“There is no question that Nikki Haley wins in a head-to-head contest with Joe Biden,” the memo reads. “Some polls have her up as much as 12 points in swing states like Michigan. She consistently outperforms Donald Trump by wide margins. Nikki Haley is by far the strongest candidate to win in November.”
