Trump calls for regime change in Iran hours after Vance said US is ‘not interested’ in regime change.

Donald Trump contradicted his Vice President JD Vance by suggesting a possible regime change in Iran after the US bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities and thrust the United States squarely into an escalating Middle East conflict.

“It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social app.

The post came hours after Vance said the goal of the strikes in Iran was not for regime change.

“We want to end their nuclear program, and then we want to talk to the Iranians about a long-term settlement here,” Vance said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “We believe very strongly that there are two pathways.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also told reporters at the Pentagon on Sunday that, “This mission was not and has not been about regime change.”

Also, in a joint statement, US Defense Secretary Pete Hagerty said that the goal of the operation to strike Iran “is not, and never was, regime change.”
