Trump celebrates CBS canceling Stephen Colbert show: “I absolutely love that”

Donald Trump is thrilled over the news that CBS has decided to cancel Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show.’

In a post on his Truth Social site, Trump celebrated the decision and  attacked the two remaining broadcast network late night hosts, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.

“I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,” Trump wrote. “I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

CBS announced Thursday that it was ending The Late Show for “financial reasons,” despite Colbert being the highest rated late night host.

“It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,” the network said in a statement. “Our admiration, affection and respect for the talents of Stephen Colbert and his incredible team made this agonizing decision even more difficult.”

The decision to end Colbert’s show came days after the host publicly criticize CBS parent company Paramount Global for settling a $16 million lawsuit with Trump.

Colbert has been an outspoken critic of Trump on late night TV, leading to speculation that his show’s cancellation was likely political and linked to the pending merger of CBS-parent Paramount Global with Skydance, which the Trump administration through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), must approve.

“America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) wrote Thursday on X.

“If Paramount and CBS ended the Late Show for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better,” Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) wrote on X.

Schiff was a guest on the show Thursday when the news broke.
