Donald Trump, 77, claims he is being sarcastic when he confused Former President Barack Obama and sitting President Joe Biden.
“Whenever I sarcastically insert the name Obama for Biden as an indication that others may actually be having a very big influence in running our Country, Ron DeSanctimonious and his failing campaign apparatus, together with the Democrat’s Radical Left ‘Disinformation Machine,’ go wild saying that ‘Trump doesn’t know the name of our President, (CROOKED!) Joe Biden. He must be cognitively impaired,” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social site Monday.
“No, I know both names very well, never mix them up, and know that they are destroying our Country,” Trump added.
The post comes after a series of gaffes by the septuagenarian ex-president which has open him up to criticisms about his age, which Republicans usually lob at Biden.
“Here is a running list of every one of Donald Trump’s fumbles, accidents, and confused moments from this year. (NOTE: this is why his handlers won’t let him debate),” the DeSantis War Room wrote in a post on X the platform formerly known as Twitter, earlier this month.
“This is a different Donald Trump than 2015 and 2016. He lost the zip on his fastball,” DeSantis (R) told reporters at a event in New Hampshire last month. “In 2016, he was freewheeling, he’s out there barnstorming the country. Now, it’s just a different guy. And it’s sad to see.”
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) also attacked Trump over his age saying that while he believes the ex-president isn’t “senile,” the “pressure that he is under at his age is starting to get to him.”
According to Forbes, Trump has confused President Biden and former President Obama at least seven times in recent months.
In his post on Monday, Trump claimed to have “aced” a cognitive test he took as part of his physical exam and called on Biden to do the same.
“Biden should take one so we can determine why he wants Open Borders, No Energy Independence, A Woke Military, High Inflation, No Voter I.D., Men playing In Women’s Sports, Only Electric Cars & Trucks, A Weaponized DOJ/FBI, and so many other CRAZY things!!!” Trump wrote.
