During another one of his bizarre coronavirus briefings at the White House on Monday, Trump claimed that the 1917 pandemic ended World War II.
Trump not only manage to get the year of the pandemic wrong, the very stable genius was also wrong about the year that the second World War ended—he was off by over two decades.
“The closest thing is in 1917, they say, the great pandemic. It certainly was a terrible thing where they lost anywhere from 50 to 100 million people,” Trump said. “Probably ended the second World War, all the soldiers were sick.”
The flu pandemic broke out in 1918 and lasted until 1920, the second World War ended in 1945.
