Trump complains that John McCain's funeral was too long in new book.

Donald Trump complained that the funeral for late Sen. John McCain was too long and continued to spread falsehoods about the service he was not allowed to attend nearly 5 years ago.

In his new book titled ‘Letters to Trump‘ the former president wrote: “I never warmed to him. Never felt good about anybody having anything to do with John McCain and never will.”

Trump went to say that despite his animosity towards all things McCain, he “gave him the world’s longest funeral, 11 days. Much like his wars, it never ended,” according to the New York Post.

“At the request of many of [Meghan’s] representatives, I made it possible for her father to have the world’s longest funeral, designed and orchestrated by him, even though I was never, to put it mildly, a fan,” Trump added. “In his own very special way, he was a RINO’s RINO.”

McCain memorial events, which Trump was not invited to, spanned a period of five days, not 11. He lay in state at both the Arizona Capitol building and the US Capitol before he was buried at the US Naval Academy Cemetery.

Trump’s claim that McCain’s funeral required his approval is also a lie.

“All funerals and memorial services at the Cathedral are organized by the family of the deceased; only a state funeral for a former president involves consultation with government officials. No funeral at the Cathedral requires the approval of the president or any other government official,” Kevin Eckstrom, chief communications officer of the Washington National Cathedral, said in a statement at the time, CBS reported.

It took two days for Trump to order the lowering of the flags at the White House after McCain’s death. He only did so after intense public criticism.
