Donald Trump confused President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama at a campaign rally in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday.
“Shortly after we win the presidency, I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled,” Trump said. “I know them both very well and we will restore peace through strength. Get that war settled. It’s a bad war. And Putin has so little respect for Obama that he’s starting to throw around the nuclear word. You heard that. Nuclear. He’s starting to talk nuclear weapons today.”
Trump supporters at the rally reportedly went silent as he referenced Obama, who left office in 2016.
Trump has confused Obama with Biden in at least seven other instances, according to Forbes. He has also made several other notable gaffes on the campaign trial including confusing his GOP opponent Nikki Haley with former Democratic speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
Trump claims he mixes up politicians names on purpose, but questions still remain about his and Joe Biden’s, age and mental capacity for office ahead of their potential rematch in November.
Both Trump and Biden, 77 and 81 respectively, are the oldest people to run for president.
