Donald Trump is taking a victory lap after his widely panned appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention on Wednesday.
“The questions were Rude and Nasty, often in the form of a statement, but we CRUSHED IT!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump’s comment comes as he is facing bipartisan criticism for comments he made at the conference, including questioning whether Vice-President Kamala Harris is Black and repeatedly clashing with the moderator, accusing her of asking “nasty” questions and being rude.
Trump’s conduct at the event even shocked some Republicans.
“To question the vice president’s ethnicity — I can’t even really say what I want to say about this, but I just think this was a calculated mistake and I would not have advised that,” Republican strategist Shermichael Singleton told CNN.
“Overall I just don’t see what the net gain here was, and I think a lot of Black people will watch this appearance and then they will point to the former president and they will point to the Republican Party and say this is exactly why we will never give you all the majority of our support,” Singleton added.
