Trump declares MAGA has “only just begun” after acquittal in the Senate.

Trump says MAGA has “only just begun” after acquittal in the Senate.

Former President Donald Trump said the Make America Great Again movement is only just beginning after the Senate voted to acquit him in his impeachment trial.

“Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun. In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people,” he said in the statement.

Trump gave his “deepest thanks” to the Republicans in the Senate who “stood proudly for the Constitution we all revere and for the sacred legal principles at the heart of our country.”

The Senate vote of 57-43 fell short of the two-thirds majority needed to convict.

Seven Republican senators—Richard Burr (N.C.), Bill Cassidy (La.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Mitt Romney (Utah), Ben Sasse (Neb.) and Pat Toomey (Pa.)–joined all 50 Democrats to vote guilty on the article of impeachment charging Trump with incitement of insurrection.
