Trump demands that Republican support $2,000 stimulus unless they "have a death wish"

Donald Trump is doubling down on calling for an increase in direct payments from $600 to $2,000.

After Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell shot down Democrats’ effort to bring the legislation up for a vote on Tuesday, Trump tweeted.

“Unless Republicans have a death wish, and it is also the right thing to do, they must approve the $2000 payments ASAP. $600 IS NOT ENOUGH! Also, get rid of Section 230 – Don’t let Big Tech steal our Country, and don’t let the Democrats steal the Presidential Election. Get tough!”

A number of Republicans have come out in support of $2,000 payments including Georgia Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.

Even though Trump appears to be on board with issuing larger checks he’s been largely absent from negotiations behind the scenes choosing instead to outline his terms publicly via tweets.
